It is an obround PowerCore-style element designed to serve as the first filtration stage, capturing dust and abrasive contaminants before they reach the engine's combustion chamber, and works in tandem with the secondary safety element (87356457 / Baldwin PA5792) to protect the engine under heavy field dust loads.
